MANDY CASTILLO
Tell me about yourself?
“I grew up in a small town between Stockton and Sacramento called Galt, in 2008 I relocated to LA going back and forth to visit family and friends. I was born on 11/17/88 and I have mixed feelings about turning 30 this year. My favorite dish is Linguine and clams with a glass of red and a mystery love novel. And I have to stop myself from buying anything that has a panda on it. ”

How did you get into photography?
“I was always bouncing back and forth between different arts and crafts, my artist boyfriend Nate Flamm suggested I try photography thinking I would enjoy and it was the one art that just stuck. I only wish I had found it sooner.”

How did you find out about TGS?
“I found out about TGS from IG, I follow Daniel, and he had re-posted an IG story about open spots for a creative meet up event in LA, it looked like fun and I decided to join in.”

Why'd you join?
“I knew I wanted to join TGS after the event I did with the members at FD studios, everyone was kind and respectful and full of smiles! I love what TGS stands for, it’s very open and welcoming!”

Where do you get your inspiration from?
“I get my inspiration from photographers in the area and a few youtube photographers that share their processes online. I’m also inspired by bouncing ideas off of friends and seeing what crazy ideas we come up with.”

What's your favorite way to get out of a creative rut?
“My favorite way to get out of a creative rut is to take a break from editing, and take the car out for a cruise. I love being out in nature and the fresh air and scenery really get my creative juices pumping!”

Do you have other creative friends you like to brainstorm with?
“The creative people around me are photographers Alyssa Nicole; someone I like to call my mentor, and my model friends Brenda Chavez, Daniella Badeau, Gregan Wingert and Shelley Strong. ”
