Aye Bay Bay

Here at the Gypsy Shack, we strongly believe in three-day weekends. But since the rest of the country hasn't caught on to our forward thinking just yet, I decided to give myself a long weekend  and take a trip to the Bay.

Also, thank god for friends who live in rad places and are cool enough to play tourist with me for the weekend. (;

Every time I visit, I think about making the move. I mean, honestly, who wouldn't be tempted. I am a SoCal girl to the core, but there is inspiration around ever. freakin'. corner. in the city. The people, the art, the food, and they have seasons! Well, the most "season" I'd be able to handle anyway.

Without boring you all with the nitty gritty details, take a look at some highlights of what me and my bff Jill (not her real name.. ) did that weekend!

The main event of the weekend was Hardly Stricly Bluegass Music Festival at Golden Gate Park. I am no bluegrass music fan, but I couldn't turn down a FREE music festival at Golden Gate Park (Outside Lands, I'm comin' for ya next!) And we actually got to see Cake preform, which was pretty cool!

Clarion Alley- The tourist in me couldn't contain my excitement! This little ally off of Valencia in the Mission is such a gem. Not the most traditional form of art, but just as beautiful and powerful as any priceless piece of painting. The creativity and inspiration flowing through this alley is UN.REAL.

And of course, is it really a vacation without some #foodporn?

Souvla - This little counter service Greek restaurant is nestled in Hays Valley. They rotisserie roast their meats and wrap them in warm pita or toss them in salads. Their Greek fries are also to die for!!

Umami Burger- Yes, this was actually my first time! I only wish I had more appetite to try all the gourmet burgers on the menu 😫 And much to my dismay, someone ordered an Ahi Tuna Salad. At Umami BURGER. I know, i don't want to talk about it...

Mission Beach Cafe - The most adorable neighborhood cafe! Always a packed house. We waited probably around 30-40 (which isn't bad for this place), and it was SO worth the wait. They make their Huevos Rancheros with two perfectly poached eggs smothered underneath red salsa and topped with tortilla chips. They also make all their food with organic and locally raised/grown ingredients. Definitely a must try!

Last, but absolutely not least, a little dessert action (though I am usually an advocate of #desserfirst). San Fransisco Organic Ice Cream Truck - I don't think I've ever seen anything so magnificent in my life. They turn big rad antique trucks into the sickest ice cream trucks! And, they use the best ingredients for their ice cream, so you really don't need to feel guilty (;

Until next time, San Fransisco! I'll be back soon (:
